Irish singer Brian Gilligan dreaming of teaming up with Hozier after Britain's Got Talent elimination

Irish singer Brian Gilligan said it would be his dream to team up with Hozier and launch a solo career after missing out on a spot in the Britain’s Got Talent final.

The Dubliner, 32, who was axed during Monday night’s first live semi-final, added he’d happily return to the West End if the opportunity came knocking.

The dad of one, who moved back home in Malahide with his wife last year after six years in London, said: “If the door’s open with opportunity to go back to the UK we would but it is hard when we have so many family and friends in Ireland and with kids in the picture.

“I mean, in some ideal dream scenario, who wouldn’t want to collaborate with Hozier? Like that is ever going to happen.

“I just want to start concentrating on writing and getting my own solo artist stuff off the ground. It is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time and BGT is great because it has given me that platform.

“I’d love to collaborate with other musicians and I’d love to release an EP and I just want to get back into doing some solid gigging.

“And I’m never going to turn a blind eye if anything potentially came through for the West End or a tour or anything like that.”

  • BGT runs nightly on Virgin Media One at 7.30pm until Sunday’s final.
