Irish shop issues playful warning to customers about inedible 'cereal' after confusion

A shop in Cork released a statement after a customer nearly went home with a box of “cereal” that wasn’t edible.

O'Murchu's Gala in Innishannon, Co Cork got a laugh when a customer nearly went home with a box full of cardboard pieces instead of Frosties.

The confusion came over a range of cereal-themed puzzles the shop has in stock.

Unfortunate for some, the boxes are too similar to the real brands and left customers picking up the 1,000 piece jigsaws under the impression it was to be their breakfast.

The picture shows the boxes of Kellog's Frosties and Corn Flakes, but once you read the label you'll see exactly what the problem is.

Cork Beo reported that O'Murchu's said a customer only latched on after going to the checkout and realising they're €14.99 - which would be fairly dear if they were actual Frosties.

They said: "Just so that everyone is clear!

"We’ve had a customer that nearly walked out the door with this product, thinking that they were going to have it for breakfast.

"Sadly, they were badly mistaken when they heard the price at the checkout. We’re happy to have resolved the issue by ushering our customer to the correct aisle.

"It is not cereal people. It’s a 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzle.

"Lesson of the day….always read the labels on products."
