Irish shop forced to up age limit on alcohol sales due to 'a few who like to ruin it for everyone'

A local Cork shop has upped their age limit on alcohol sales due to alleged anti-social behaviour in their local community.

Broderick's Filling Station in Ballycotton announced on their social media pages that alcohol would only be sold to those aged 21 or over.

Signs around the shop at the alcohol section now display a 21+ sign to deter anyone younger from attempting to buy booze.

The shop owners said: "As of tonight to try and curb the recent bout of anti-social behaviour around the village mostly the park and the GAA pitch we have increased the age limit for the purchase of alcohol from 18 to 21.

"With most of our customers enjoying alcohol responsibly there is obviously a few who like to ruin it for everyone else.We here at Broderick’s don’t want any of this behaviour in our beautiful village.Thank you for understanding."

Locals praised the owners for taking the step to counteract the anti-social behaviour in the area.
