Irish seaside cottage with glorious sea views sells for way above asking price after bidding war

A cottage in Wicklow with a glorious seaside location caused quite a stir when it went up for auction last month.

The appropriately named Sea Cottage along Porters Rock in Arklow has a simply stunning view of the Irish Sea.

Though it was unfurnished and in need of completion, the initial asking price for the property was set at €120,000.

In an auction hosted by online property company BidX1, the price of the property shot up as eight different bidders went to war to grab the picturesque cottage.

In less than four minutes, the property had been captured by a user with a bid of €180,000.

Despite being around about 70km away from Dublin city and 50k from Bray, bidders were not dettered.

With just under three acres of land, the lucky winner has got plenty of room to maneuverer.

Amenities in the area include the Bridgewater Shopping Centre, Arklow Bay Hotel together with a wide range of shops, bars and restaurants.

Transport links include Arklow Train Station, regular bus services and the M11 Motorway.

Not to mention the Porters Rock beach itself, which is a serious view to wake up to every morning.

We wish the best of luck to the new owners of the cottage – it's a blank canvas, and the sky is the limit when it comes to re-imagining it.
