Irish SBG star Dean Barry set for UFC debut at Fight Island in January

Ireland's Dean Barry is set to make his UFC debut at Fight Island in Abu Dhabi next month.

The 3-1 prospect became the latest Irishman to sign with the UFC in November, following Cage Warriors star Rhys McKee to the Octagon.

And in an MMA Island report this evening, it was confirmed that the SBG Charlestown kick-boxer will take on Mike Jackson on January 20.

Some MMA fans might remember the Dubliner's opponent as the man who ended former professional wrestler CM Punk's short UFC career in his last Octagon outing in 2018.

And as news broke of his debut, Barry took to Twitter to share his excitement with fans.

It comes after UFC president Dana White finalised plans for a Fight Island triple header next month, kicking off with Max Hollaway v Calvin Kattar on January 16.

The week will be concluded with Conor McGregor's return against Dustin Poirier in the UFC 257 main event on January 23.

But Barry is set to feature on the midweek card, which is set to be headlined by Khamzat Chimaev and Leon Edwards' eagerly anticipated showdown.
