Irish salon owner sees funny side despite premises being trashed by vandals

An Irish salon had all its windows smashed in a random attack on Thursday night as they prepared to reopen.

Hair by Nigel & Co in Kilkenny city was extensively damaged by the thugs, who battered all of the windows late at night.

Luckily for the owners nothing was taken inside the premises but the windows will need fixing before the business potentially opens later this month.

Nigel Kenny, who owns the award-winning salon, took a video of the damage and was able to see the lighter side of the news.

Mr Kenny said: "Ladies, if you wanted your hair done you just had to ask, I'm sure we could have come up to something."

Showing the extensive damage he added: "Would have taken a fair bit of effort to smash that definitely.

"And not as much as a brush robbed, the sign still looks good. But yeah, unbelievable.

"The worst thing about it is they're caught rotten the eejits, there is so much CCTV around the place."

Mr Kenny added in a Facebook post: "Was this an outburst because salons are not open yet,or is someone so clueless to think they are going to get away with trashing a salon in the most secure place in Kilkenny.

"I’m just delighted the 1am phone call was about this, rather than a loved one being hurt, but rest assured if you did this and you are reading this message, shame on you, and there is no escaping cameras everywhere."

Gardai have confirmed they are investigating the incident and are asking anyone who might have information to get in contact with them at Kilkenny Garda Station.
