Irish rugby star Peter Stringer and wife Debbie O'Leary expecting their second child

Irish rugby star Peter Stringer and wife Debbie O'Leary have announced that they are expecting their second child.

Stringer's doting wife made the announcement on Sunday on social media sharing an adorable snap on Instagram.

In the photo the Cork beauty can be seen sitting with the couple's son Noah as she cradles her baby bump.

She wrote: "Noah already taking the role of big brother very seriously, offering some words of wisdom to baby Stringer."

"Myself and @stringer9 feeling very grateful"

Peter also shared the heartwarming post on his Instagram story.

The 41-year-old rugby ace first met Debbie in 2009 and they dated for seven years before tying the knot in 2015.

The star-studded wedding ceremony in Spain included guests such as Nadia Forde and Donncha O'Callaghan.

The former Ireland international traded the rugby field for the dancefloor during a stint in this year's Dancing with the Stars .

At just 5 foot 7, Stringer was successful as a scrum-half for Ireland  and Munster.

With Ireland, he won a Six Nations Grand Slam in 2009, three Triple Crowns and has 98 in a decorated international career.

He announced his retirement from rugby in June 2018.
