Irish rugby fans all say the same thing about self-deprecating New Zealand billboard

New Zealand may have been crestfallen to suffer a rare home series loss thanks to Ireland but they have been good sports about it.

Firstly, their players continued the age-old rugby tradition of going into the winner's dressing room to congratulate them and share a beer together after it came to a dramatic conclusion in Wellington.

And now as the Irish team and its supporters made their home, they were greeted by good-natured billboards by Kiwi bookmaker TAB NZ.

The amusing marketing gimmick left Irish fans chuckling. Among them was former Leinster and Ireland hooker Shane Byrne who shared the below tweet.

Meanwhile Fionnbar wrote: "In fairness they are being great about this series!"

And Vivien added: "Love it (crying laughing emoji)."

Darragh commented: "That is classic." And Mandy noted: "New Zealanders are very like the Irish, personality wise."

Lastly, Josie agreed with that sentiment: "I feel that spiritually Ireland and New Zealand are very similar.

"We've both got this casual affect of hey how's it going? How did we get here? Along with low-key being really good and impactful in a lot of ways."

Now, admittedly that particular company had some back-peddling to do on its marketing ploy as in the lead-up to the series they had been winding Irish eyes up with a bunch of cocky messages dotted around host cities like Auckland and Dunedin.
