Irish retailer Swamp shuts down with closure of six stores in Cork, Galway, Waterford, Athlone, Tralee and Limerick

Irish retailer Swamp Clothing has ceased trading with the immediate closure of six stores around the country.

In a notice posted on social media on Friday night, the company thanked their customers for their support and loyalty over the years.

The popular clothes shop had outlets in Cork, Galway, Waterford, Athlone, Tralee and Limerick, RSVP Live reports.

A statement from the company said: "To all our wonderful customers. Today has been a sad day.

"The Directors of Swamp Ltd regret to announce that the company will cease trading today.

"We sincerely thank all our loyal customers and wish them well in the future."

They added: "Swamp's shops in Cork, Limerick, Athlone, Tralee, Galway and Waterford will close this evening."
