Irish restaurant hits back at 'rude' customer who 'didn't want to pay part of bill'

A restaurant in Cork has hit back at a "rude" customer who they say left staff and other diners "shocked".

Pizzeria EATin'IT in Blarney received a complaint recently from someone who accused them of serving "soggy" pizza that had "toppings in a raw state".

Because of this, the customer didn't want to pay part of their bill and blasted their visit as "a waste of time and money".

But the restaurant's owner was having none of it and hit back with a complaint of their own, Cork Beo reports.

In response, Ylenia said the visitor got custom toppings on their pizza, which she wasn't a fan of.

She said: "I would never put in my menu a pizza with tomato sauce, mozzarella, ham, sweetcorn, bacon, chicken and fresh cherry tomatoes because as we are Italian and for our Italian taste this combination is not good.

"If I make a mistake when I cook, I say sorry and I offer the food to my customers (we are humans and we can make mistake)...but in this case, why did you think you didn't have to pay for something that I didn't make wrong?"

She went on to suggest the visitor didn't know the difference between fresh foods, and outlined how the issue led to "rude" behaviour in front of other customers.

"Could you please try to think that if you are disappointed it is probably because you are not used, for example, a fresh cheese instead of a grated one or because the combination of the ingredients you chose was not ideal?

"Above all I don't allow anyone to be aggressive with my staff who are always helpful and nice with everyone.

"Ciara was extremely polite with you trying to explain everything about the ingredients you ordered. In the restaurant there were other customers, witnesses to your behaviour against my staff, and they were shocked at the way you were rude and impolite with her only because you didn't want to pay part of the bill.

"If I go to a restaurant and I order something I don’t like (unless the food i receive is burnt or very salty, but this is not the case) it’s only my fault and next time I either not go back to that place or I order something different but I would never never ask for money back. Luckily/ unluckily we are not all equal."
