Irish reddit user opens up about their 'secret shame' in hilarious viral post

An Irish user on the popular social media site Reddit has opened up on their 'secret shame' - that they actually love the rain.

We know, it's almost sacrilege considering the rain can ruin anyone's plans in an instant, but don't get the pitchforks out just yet.

u/AlcoholicTurtle26 took to the r/ireland site on Wednesday morning with a heartfelt confession.

They wrote: "I can’t hold my secret shame in any longer. I love rain.

"I love the feeling of it against my skin. I love looking at it. I love the smell of it. I love opening my curtains in the morning to see it pissing down. I love standing in the porch with a cup of tea watching it lash.

"I broke the news to my father and he says I have to be gone from the house by Friday."

But to the surprise of many, the comments section on the post was full of support

One person replied saying: "I'm not a fan of being out in it but it's nice to look at and I like the sound of it on the roof. It always reminds me of playing with toys inside." with a second adding "I love the smell of the air when it's raining or about to rain. And the air is so fresh after. The sound is so pleasant if you're inside. Love it."

But there was one comment in particular which summed up the Irish people's relationship with the rain clouds we're so used to.

It read "I think we as a people are only content when it's raining. When it's too hot we moan, too cold we moan. If tis raining we just kinda get on with the day, although nobody likes being out in torrential rain."

The original poster will be delighted with the news that stormy weather is incoming for Ireland.

After a miserable start to the week which saw the country drenched in heavy rain showers, it looks as though temperatures are set to climb to as high as 21C.

That doesn't mean an end to the rain however with Ulster set to see some patchy drizzle throughout the week.

It will also be largely cloudy across the country throughout the weekend.

But it looks as though it will be Munster and Connacht that are set to see the worst weather toward the end of the week with some thunder and hail expected.
