Irish Rail train from Dublin to Cork stopped and four gardai called after incident

A train going from Cork to Dublin was delayed on Friday as garda assistance was required.

Irish Rail announced that the 5.25pm from Kent to Heuston had to pull up at Limerick Junction and await cops after an incident on board.

Four officers responded along with a paramedic.

According to one passenger the row erupted when a person didn't have a ticket, refused to buy one and then refused to get off the train.

Upon arrival to the Tipperary station the person then "felt unwell" and an ambulance was called.

The train left again after the 50 minute standstill.

Irish Rail said: "The 17:25 Cork/Heuston has departed Limerick Junction and is operating approximately 50 minutes behind schedule this evening."
