Irish Rail searching for owner of dog found on Newbridge to Heuston train

Irish Rail are seeking the owners of an adventurous dog who was found on a commuter train from Kildare to Dublin.

The adorable pooch boarded a train in Newbridge yesterday morning.

The rail company issued an appeal on Twitter, asking their followers to help track down his owners, Dublin Live reports.

Irish Rail said: "Another lost dog on the Kildare line!! This little lad boarded this morning at Newbridge, but is being looked after by Heuston staff at present.

"Can we find his owners?"

The terrier, who appears well-cared for, remained with the staff at Heuston for some time before volunteers from My Lovely Horse Rescue came to take him into their care.

Irish Rail updated concerned followers saying: "This little beauty is now under the loving care of @MyLovelyHorseR".

It's not the first time a dog has made their way onto an Irish Rail train and headed off on an adventure.

Last month, a lovely little Yorkshire terrier took a journey on a DART train  and ended up in Ashtown pound.

And in April, intrepid explorer Hamish managed to get an  train from Co Kildare to Heuston Station in Dublin city centre.

After an extensive media coverage and an online campaign the terrier - whose real name turned out to be Tyson - was reunited with his owner.
