An Irish punter would have been waiting on just two teams to win for almost €500,000 had he not cashed out earlier this week.
The Dubliner placed a €52 accumulator bet in their local BoyleSports shop, predicting outcomes across 21 matches in various football competitions.
They predicted over 1.5 goals in Congo v Togo, Iran v Republic of Korea, United Arab Emirates v Iraq and Honduras v Jamaica as well as match betting in Albania v Poland, Denmark v Austria and Sweden v Greece before cashing out.
But more of their Champions League predictions came in on Tuesday night, meaning that they would have been waiting on Manchester United beating Atalanta and Bayern Munich winning against Benfica on Wednesday for €494,000.
Sarah Kinsella from Boylesports said prior to Tuesday's games: “This was a stunning handful of selections from one of our Dublin customers and hats off to them for deciding to cash out early for €14,759.20.
"However we can’t help but feel nervous for our punter who could be counting €494,000 instead if their Champions League predictions come in this week. I guess we will have to wait and see."
She added on Wednesday: "Lads, if this Self Service Betting Terminal customer hadn’t cashed this bet out, they would be waiting on Man Utd (8/11) & Bayern Munich (4/9) for €494k tonight."
