The Government may look at reopening for outdoor dining as early as May after the emergence of new figures.
The World Health Organisation has said it believes outdoor dining is the way forward for businesses to survive.
WHO Special Envoy on Covid-19, Dr David Nabarro said he believes the option would be suitable as recent figures suggest that outdoor transmission of the coronavirus accounts for 0.1% of reported cases.
One cabinet source said that the stats mean it could be possible for an end of May reopening for outdoor dining and to allow pubs to serve outdoors also calling it a "viable" aim.
The next date to take note of for the UK is May 17, which is the earliest indoor hospitality can reopen. But customers will still have to eat and drink when seated.
On June 21 at the earliest though, all restrictions will be lifted, meaning there should be no limit to who you can go to a pub or restaurant with.
