Irish pubs update: Popular Dublin bar forced to shut its doors after staff member tests positive

A popular pub in Dublin city centre has been forced to shut its doors after a member of staff tested positive for Covid-19.

As a result, other members of staff will have to isolate.

Toners Pubs informed their customers of the news, which came just weeks after the return of indoor dining, on Sunday evening.

A post on their social media pages read: "Customer Notice: Dear Customers,

"Owing to a member of staff testing positive for Covid-19, we will be closed for a short while.

"We are working with the HSE and expect to reopen in a couple of days.

"Thank you for your support and stay safe."

Fans of the Baggot Street pub reacted with good wishes for the member and the remaining staff on the whole.

One said on Twitter: "Hope your staff member recovers soon. Was in on Thursday, great set-up, very safe."

Another wrote: "So sorry to hear this news. Everyone stay safe and well."
