Irish pubs update: Iconic Dublin boozer announces perfect reopening plans for securing outdoor drinking bookings

One iconic Dublin pub has announced its reopening plans ahead of their much awaited comeback.

Grogan's on South William Street has gotten punters tongues wagging after taking to Twitter to release their schedule for June 7.

This date will see all pubs and restaurants allowed to open again to serve drink and food but only outdoors initially.

This has led to some confusion among punters as to how long they will have in a spot, if they have to book a place and if they'll have to pay for food that they don't want.

While all of these questions haven't been answered yet, the boozer in Dublin city did confirm one thing with certainty for themselves.

You don't need to book Grogan's but be prepared to queue as it'll be operating on a first come, first serve basis for giving people spots.

They confirmed: "In response to some queries, we'll be operating on a first come first serve basis upon reopening. See you in 3 weeks."

Here is what to expect over the course of May and June:

On May 17:

  • The mass reopening of non-essential retail

On June 2:

  • Hotels will be allowed to reopen, with the bonus for guests able to eat meals like their breakfast inside

On June 7:

  • All pubs and restaurants allowed to open again to serve, but only outdoors initially
  • Gyms and swimming pools will reopen
  • Any household can visit one other

  • Amateur sports matches are back on

  • Guests at wedding receptions up to 25

  • Cinemas and theatres to reopen
