At last, outdoor dining is back this Bank Holiday Monday. From June 7 we can enjoy a meal in a beer garden or restaurant terrace with friends and family for the first time in months.
Here’s what you need to know about the reopening of outdoor dining, all the rules we’ll need to follow and changes in the rules from last year.
Time Limits
There will be no time limits for outdoor service. Unlike last year, we can enjoy a meal out without watching the clock.
While the return of indoor dining next month will bring time limits for tables indoors, anyone eating outside won’t have to worry.
And while there are no time limits for dining outdoors, all customers will have to be off the premises by 11.30pm.
Customer Limits
There are no limits on how many tables a restaurant can accommodate outside, as long as they are following social distancing guidelines.
Six adult customers and a maximum of nine children under 12 can sit together per table.
Table service only.
Music
No live music is allowed.
The music can’t be too loud either.
Safety Measures
We’ll have to wear face masks when we’re not at our tables. Staff will all be wearing masks too.
Restaurants will have strict contact tracing procedures in place and enhanced hygiene measures, including hand sanitisers and cleaning.
