Irish pubs: Two Wicklow pubs make 'difficult decision' to close over Covid fears

Two Wicklow pubs will be temporarily closing their doors to the public over Covid fears.

The Burnaby in Greystones and the Wicklow Arms in Delgany made the "difficult" decision due to the "rapidly deteriorating" Covid situation.

Both venues will remain closed until Friday, January 7.

A spokesperson for the Burnaby said on Facebook: "Due to the rapidly deteriorating covid situation we at The Burnaby have taken the decision in the interest of the health of our staff and customers alike, to remain closed until Friday 7th January.

"We apologise for any inconvenience and hope you will all stay safe and well until we open our doors again soon."

The Wicklow Arms also made the announcement on Facebook: "It is with public health in mind, and that of our staff and our customers; with the rapid deterioration of the local Covid situation, we at the Wicklow Arms have made the very difficult decision to close until Friday, January 7, 2022.

"In the meantime, please stay safe and well and look after each other. We look forward to seeing you all again soon.
