Irish pubs: Iconic south Dublin bar finally reopens after 18 months

South Dublin residents are in a party mood as a popular pub has finally reopened after being closed all through the pandemic.

Charles Fitzgerald pub, also known as Fitzgeralds of Sandycove, has opened its doors to patrons 18 months after it first shut down in March 2020.

The traditional bar is one of Dublin's most well know Victorian pubs thanks to its fantastic drinks and Joycean theme.

The pub has each chapter of James Joyce's Ulysses featured on the stained glass windows.

Delighted locals took to social media to celebrate the good news with one person saying: "Fantastic!! We've missed you too!! Welcome back!!"

Another person added: "Brilliant news. Sandycove back to normal. So excited."

A third person said: "Great news! How we have missed you!"
