Irish pubs: 'End of an era' as popular Dublin haunt makes tough decision to close its doors after 16 years of pints

A popular pub in the heart of Dublin has sadly announced that it will be closing its doors for good after nearly two decades of service.

Bakers Irish Pub & Restaurant on Thomas Street in the rebel Liberties broke the devastating news on its social media much to the sadness to fan favourites of the watering hole.

The haunt had been a drinkers' paradise for 16 years but in a heartbreaking statement they admitted that "the end of an era has come".

They told followers: "Unfortunately the doors of Bakers Pub will not be reopening after a very tough decision.

"We would like to thank all of our amazing staff and loyal customers over the past 16 years.

"We wouldn’t have made it this far without all your continued support.

"We will certainly miss all of our great days,nights and events we had."

They finished: "Memories that will last a lifetime. Goodbye and stay safe through these uncertain times."
