A south Dublin pub has become the first in Ireland to outline its plans on December 1 - despite there being no confirmed plans by the Government.
Brady's Pub in Terenure has told customers that although they are still waiting to see if it will be a Level 3 or Level 2 Christmas in Dublin, they will be ploughing ahead and welcoming punters back.
They said: "Unfortunately, we are still awaiting clarification from the government as to what level (2/3) we are allowed to re-open under.
"In the meantime, we plan to re-open on Tuesday 1st December under level three guidelines (outdoor dining only).
"We will be taking bookings over the phone only from Wednesday November 25 between the hours of 3-7pm on (01) 492 0141.
"No bookings will be taken through our social media platforms at this time."
They added: "Looking forward to seeing you all again over the Christmas period."
Paschal Donohoe has warned that Ireland needs to "look beyond Christmas itself" amid calls for the Government to open the country back up for the festive period.
In a blow to those hoping that Ireland can get down to Level Two in December – meaning pubs and restaurants could reopen in a meaningful way – the Finance Minister said Ireland needs to think about its "medium-term goal" when it comes to the spread of the virus.
The Fine Gael TD said Ireland "is making progress in beating this disease", but admitted: "We're just not in as good a place as we would hope to be."
He said: "I think we do need to look beyond Christmas itself, and be aware that the medium-term goal in advance of a vaccine being broadly available is to get the spread of the disease down to the lowest level possible.
He added: "The way I would describe it is the kind of intense discussions that are necessary for a decision of this magnitude will be, and are, underway."
