Pubs and restaurants across Ireland will reportedly be blitzed by officers ensuring they are following the latest Covid rules.
The Government is believed to be concerned that some establishments are going against the law and not enforcing the vaccine cert rule.
Under the current measures, only those with a vaccine or recovery cert are allowed inside pubs or restaurants.
However, the Sunday Independent reports that Ministers are concerned this isn't being followed, and will order increased checks in the coming weeks.
Officers from the Health Service Executive (HSE) and the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) will be tasked with carrying out the spot checks countrywide.
It comes as Taoiseach Micheal Martin has confirmed restrictions will not be reimposed despite the jump in Covid infections.
Mr Martin however is reported to be considering pausing the latest lifting of measures which were scheduled on October 22.
Social distancing was set to be abolished while nightclubs and drinking at the bar were all to be allowed again.
However, with Covid cases surging, the Government are considering pausing the full lift, but will not bring more measures back in.
In a Sunday Independent interview, the Taoiseach said: "We do not want to go back, and we are not contemplating going backwards. The only issue facing us now is going forward.
"We are not looking at the same situation as last year. We are looking at a completely different approach."
