Irish pub in Ibiza says they are seeing 'a few' tourists from Ireland with multiple flights a week from Dublin Airport

An Irish bar in Ibiza has said they are welcoming "a few" tourists from Ireland at the moment as holidaymakers go against Government advice.

Numerous influencers have made headlines in recent weeks for flouting the rules and heading to the Balearic party island.

And one Irish bar in the heart of Ibiza says they have had guests from Ireland this year but nowhere near as many as usual.

A spokesperson for Jack's Irish bar told the Irish Mirror: "We have had a few people from Ireland but nowhere near the previous years.

"Ibiza is full of Dutch, German, French tourists but not enough Irish."

The nightspot added that Ibiza is relatively safe compared to most places and they would like to see more Irish out there.

They said: "Ibiza is a safe place, only one person is in hospital due to Covid. We all wear masks on the street but not in bars or restaurants (except for the staff), its quite relaxed around here."

Ryanair is currently flying from Dublin Airport to the party island three times a week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday for the next two months at least.

This is despite Ibiza and the accompanying islands not being listed on Ireland's green list.

The United Kingdom did add the Balearic islands to their quarantine free list but quickly removed it a few weeks later.

Businesses on the islands have been left out of pocket for the summer with only a fraction of the business they usually get.

Superclubs are all closed with strict social distancing guidelines from the Spanish Government in place.

Currently there are only 10 places on Ireland's green list that are deemed safe to travel;

  • Finland
  • Norway
  • Italy
  • Hungary
  • Estonia
  • Latvia
  • Lithuania
  • Slovak Republic (Slovakia)
  • Greece
  • Greenland

And while Ibiza would have a lower incidence rate than many places it is considered part of Spain and which will likely not be included for some time.

Anyone who does visit Ibiza would have to quarantine for two weeks upon returning to Ireland.
