A Cavan pub has given a hilarious response to receiving a 1-star review from a Northern Irish customer.
Anglers Rest Pub, located in Ballyconnell on the NI border, put up a Facebook post after receiving a bad review on TripAdvisor.
Fermanagh user Jane M wrote a lengthy review after visiting the restaurant, criticising not just the food and the service, but the owners themselves.
The post reads: "Pathetic service: Well used to this place as live about twenty miles away. Booked a table for Sunday evening. All ur party hadn't artived [sic] at 5pm at time table was booked at 5.10 pressure was put on us to order even though we didn't know what other people wanted!!!!!!!
"Service was very mediocre with two young fellas who had absolutely no personality seemed to be brothers. Asked for Apple pie and custard got apple pie and spray crewm. Steaks are lovely but service leaves a lot to be desired. Pity as we would have been in this place regularly and recently it is going downhill will be a while before we are back due to personality of two male staff and pathetic service"
Rather than hiding the bad review, the Anglers Rest owners wore the comments proudly, going as far as to reveal their revamped restaurant entrance board, which read: "Come in and meet the "two young fellas who had absolutely no personality who seemed to be brothers" - Jane. M. on TripAdvisor. Note: We are brothers"
The post was met with a warm response from the restaurant's customers. One replied: "Personally I think the ‘two brothers’ are the fellas who make the place! Always lovely customer service from you both, along with great food and a lovely atmosphere."
Another said: "Well done Anglers rest, always ‘top service’ a few extras rules in place because of the pandemic, people need to understand that and be grateful to be able to get out and about again safely"
