Irish pub customer declares the 'Celtic Tiger is back' after being stung by costly cheese toastie

A customer has slammed a popular Dublin pub after being stung by a costly cheese toastie with "stale" crisps.

The reviewer visited the bar last August and didn't hold back, describing the establishment as needing a "complete overhaul".

Writing that it appeared the "Celtic Tiger is back", they hit out at the price and quality of some of the pub's menu items.

They explained: "'Cheese Toastie's €8.50 - two bits of sliced pan, catering cheese, stale crisps, limp salad fired into a cardboard box.

"'Seafood Chowder's €11.00 - 1½ inches of watery chowder in a cardboard bowl. Bread with a hint of margarine smeared across it.

"We complained that the food was not great and were told 'the food has to be served through a small window'.

"What? I assume it's all made in the same kitchen. McDonalds have been serving consistent food through a small window for years.

"The accountants are running the show here. Every possible cost has been cut, every asset has been squeezed.

"Even looking around the front area, it's a mess - bits of broken wood and pipes, fake plants, rickety tables. Needs a complete overhaul."

A spokesman for the pub apologised for the customer's experience and said their feedback had been passed on to the management team and owner.
