Irish property developer to help provide emergency accommodation for up to 40 Ukrainian families

An Irish building company has teamed up with a local affordable housing provider - Clúid - to supply accommodation for people fleeing Ukraine.

Glenveagh Properties PLC will be able to provide a place to live for up to 40 Ukrainians under the collaboration.

The partnership was established in recent days and will see the accommodation be sourced from Glenveagh’s completed developments.

These properties will be in addition to existing homes already allocated for housing in 2022.

This isn’t the only measure Glenveagh has taken to help people affected by the conflict - they have also:

  • A minimum €250,000 contribution from the company to Ukrainian relief charities - which will be donated with immediate effect
  • It will also treble all staff contributions to Ukrainian relief charities, which will be made on a voluntary basis through a staff payroll donation mechanism that will allow them to contribute the equivalent of a day’s pay
  • Glenveagh will also invite its suppliers, subcontractors, and professional service firms to support the relief effort with a contribution of €500 (or more if circumstances allow)

Speaking about the newly formed collaboration in aid of Ukraine refugees, Glenveagh Chief Executive Stephen Garvey said: “We are shocked to see so many people in Ukraine suffering and we want to do something meaningful to help alleviate that suffering as best we can.

“This shock is being felt throughout the business and I know people in every part of Glenveagh want to be part of a collective effort to maximise the impact we can make.

“We are glad to partner with Clúid in making accommodation available for up to 40 Ukrainian families who need a safe place to stay.

“We also want to recognise the generosity of our colleagues throughout Glenveagh by committing to a minimum donation of €250,000 to Ukrainian relief charities as part of supporting individual donations from colleagues by trebling each contribution.

“This is a truly dreadful time for Ukrainian people and they can be assured of our support.”
