We all have things in our lives that we couldn't imagine living without.

Our friends and family, our pets, food, getting outside, films, tv, music, mobile phones, the Internet, for some it’s hair straighteners, chocolate, Netflix, so many great things.

But, one curious social media user took to Reddit Ireland to query “What are the best things people spent money on in the last year that they’re delighted with?”

The poster shared how he had bought a cold fan during the warm Summer nights of 2022 and loved his purchase.

Posting on Reddit, the man said: “For me, it was a proper cold fan in the summer that cost around €150.

“Never had one before and used to just put up with (and dread) the warm summer nights, but I’m delighted I forked out for it and wouldn’t go back to not using one.”

Whether you’re saving for a rainy day or for that trip of a lifetime, there’s some luxuries in life that you just can’t do without.

People flocked to the comments to reveal their highly coveted purchases, with a lot saying they bought household items.

One wholesome response read: “I know it sounds very stupid as a man in his 30's, but I got my first scarf a few months ago and it is a complete gamechanger. Can't believe I let my neck be cold for so long.”

A second said: “A whale shaped butter dish. When everything around me is falling apart, my sanity, country, planet. I just look at my butter dish and everything's instantly better!”

Another said: “Robot hoover. I'm up in bed right now and yer man (as we have come to call him) is doing the rounds downstairs.”

While another said: “Air purifier. Bought one for the bedroom and ended up buying another larger one for the sitting room / kitchen a few weeks later. Wouldn’t be without them now.”
