Irish people share five things that are legal but feel completely wrong

There are some things in life that are deemed socially unacceptable, or that would attract some stares, but are in fact perfectly legal.

Irish people took to Reddit to reveal some strange things people could do that are perfectly legal but feel entirely wrong.

Many answers seemed to relate to the way people eat food, with a seemingly right and wrong way becoming evident.

Here are five of the best:

Hot dog eaten from the middle

One person commented that they had seen a significant public figure eating the popular food completely wrong.

They said: "One of the politicians in our country bit into a hotdog side ways and in the middle, like a sandwich.

"It was so weird that it was in the newspapers the next day. Slow news day obv, but made him look like a nutjob."

Drinking from a glass in public

Others pointed out that you would most definitely get some strange looks if you took to the streets holding a glass of water from the kitchen.

They said: "walking around in public with a glass of water from home".

Eye contact when completing a mundane task

Making eye contact can sometimes be a little awkward in some situations.

One user definitely felt uncomfortable after their boss looked them dead in the eye.

They said: "My boss used to apply his lip balm while making firm eye contact with me at the end of the day.

"Used to creep me out, and I'm still unsure why he did it like that."

Eating food from your pocket

Have you ever seen someone take a cupcake from their coat pocket and eat it? The mess it would leave was enough for some people to say it warranted being illegal.

They said: "Eating unwrapped food from inside your pockets" was just completely wrong.

Not facing the door in an elevator

We all take for granted that when you step into a lift, people automatically face the door, but what would you do if someone got in and faced directly opposite you? Creepy right?

However, it may not be as awkward if it happened in a different country as in some cultures, it is considered disrespectful to turn your back on someone so people will not face the door.
