Irish people rage at size of Christmas sweet tins and call for joke 'boycott' of Cadbury

Christmas can be a time of love and joy, but there's always at least one family argument thrown in, particularly in Ireland - but one touchy topic has led to jokey calls for a boycott of Cadbury.

Maybe it's the way that someone cooks part of the Christmas dinner.

Maybe it's that one move someone made in Monopoly that causes the riot.

Or perhaps it's that someone took one of the Christmas sweets and threw the wrapper back in the tin.

Of course, the last one is by far the worst crime, but the issue of the Christmas sweets reared its ugly head on Wednesday morning.

A post on the Ireland reddit page simply titles 'Roses sweets' explained: "I was wary a couple of years ago when they moved from tightly wrapped chocs to individually packaged chocs as there seemed to be way more packaging than chocolate in the tin. But the shrinkage this year is so blatant it's a joke!

"Fudges and blue caramels are tiny, hardly a bite in them. Double Deckers are barely a single decker anymore.

"Boycott Cadburys! Quality Street for life!"

And the original post was applauded by the commenters.

One person responded: "Not even enough room in them for a decent sewing kit."

A second added: "Couldn't figure out what the hard thing was half way down the tin. It was, in fact, the base of the tin.

While a third noted: "Roses have been shrinking for years. They really p**sed me off when they moved to the individually wrapped chocolates a few years back, the amount of plastic packaging is awful. Are Lemons Seasons Greetings still a thing?"

But it wasn't just Roses that were in the firing line.

"I'd rather have no chocolate than Quality Street

"Celebrations too. First they remove the galaxy truffles, then they massive shift the distribution towards Mars and milky ways.

"I only buy boxes of lindor now. I just can't take any more disappointment."
