Irish people overwhelmingly in favour of November General Election, Irish Mirror online poll finds

Nearly 80% of voters are in support of a November General Election, an Irish Mirror poll has found.

Now that Boris Johnson said a Brexit deal has been agreed, it's more likely Taoiseach Leo Varadkar will call for an early election.

And more than 3,300 people, out of over 4,200 who voted on the social media poll, believe Ireland should hold an election.

Many members of the public also called for Fine Gael and Mr Varadkar to booted out of power.

One Facebook user said: "Our health system is completely broken, our people are sleeping on the streets!

"All while our Taoiseach writes letters to Kylie Minogue on official government paper! YES we need a general election."

Another said: "It's up to the Irish people to get these CLOWNS OUT OF POWER.

Leo Varadkar and Micheal Martin (Canva)

"They are robbing us left right and centre. Time for change."

However, other voters believe an election would be pointless due to the other options on the table.

One said: "Who would we elect? Fianna Fail? Has everyone forgotten that they left the country in an absolute mess not so long ago."

Another added: "What would be the point of an election, the same clowns are picked for every circus."

A third person said: "What's the point in having an election? It'll be the same lot that get put in or basically the same people but with different faces.

"We need to find a way to make them bloody do their jobs for once."

A fourth added: "What would be the point of an election, the same clowns are picked for every circus."
