Irish people hit back at British boxing fans over Katie Taylor comments

A number of Irish people have hit back at British boxing fans over comments made online about Katie Taylor.

The undisputed lightweight champion was on punditry duty for DAZN's coverage of Joseph Parker v Derek Chisora on Saturday night.

And some fight fans claimed they couldn't understand what the Bray native was saying.

"Frustrates the hell out of me that I can't make out a full sentence Katie Taylor says," one viewer said on Twitter.

To which another responded: "I thought it was just me".

"I can never understand a word that comes outta Katie Taylor's mouth," another added.

One fan asked: "Can anyone understand what Katie Taylor is saying?"

But Taylor supporters hit back at the comments, blasting them as "a load of rubbish".

One said: "I understand her clearly. She is an amazing person. Great to be Irish."

Another commented: "Katie Taylor has a soft irish accent , this is a load of rubbish."

Someone else said: "She speaks more clearly than some of the British accents in fairness."

One other post read: "She was on telly here last night. No problem understanding her."

One English person joked that Taylor speaks better English better than him.

He said: "I'm from England and that's the most ridiculous thing I've heard ...she speaks better English than me."

Meanwhile, Taylor looks set to finally face Amanda Serrano next year after the Puerto Rican fighter defeated Miriam Gutierrez over the weekend.

Serrano produced a stunning display as she cruised to victory over Gutierrez by unanimous decision following ten rounds of dominance in which she dished out 236 punches across 20 minutes.
