Irish people have reacted with horror as iconic crisps get redesigned

One of the biggest things that divide families across Ireland is related to crisps.

Forget any of your drama in Coronation Street or EastEnders - the choice between Tayto and any other crisp can cause absolute war in a household.

The usual contenders include King, Keoghs and Hunky Dory, all of whom have iconic packet designs.

But one Irish user on Reddit was stunned when he picked up a Salt & Vinegar packet of Hunky Dory recently.

''Should there not have been a referendum on this or something? I feel betrayed'' said pandaflop1.

What was the cause of the issue?

This.

The iconic Hunky Dory packet has been changed - and people are stressed out (pandaflop1 (Reddit))

One user responded: 'I'll be sticking with the Okey Dokeys full time from now on.''

''I seen them a week ago in the stock room at work. Still not over it'' said another.

''Jaysus that looks odd'' added a third.

While another had another reality check in store for the original poster, saying "Wait till you hear about Hula Hoops, Skips, KP, Rancheros, Pom-Bear, Perri, Velvet Crunch, Meanies, Real McCoys and King."

What the last response is referring to is the fact that Largo Foods/Tayto Snacks represent the most iconic snack-food brands in Ireland including Tayto, Hunky Dorys, King, Hula Hoops, KP Nuts, Perri, Rancheros, Skips and Meanies.

But we're going to casually ignore that truth and continue the great debate with our mates when pubs reopen.

Let the Tayto vs King war rumble on!
