TikTok star and only fans creator Niamh O’Connor has said that the latest announcement by OnlyFans that they will be banning explicit content is just a rumour and a “smart marketing” strategy.
The 24-year-old known as Kneevo on popular social media sites said the site is now predominately used by creators to post adult content.
She told RSVP Live: “To be honest, I think it's smart marketing from OnlyFans, as much as that's annoying for the creators," said Niamh.
"Every couple of months, they put out a badly worded statement that causes lots of speculation on what they could potentially mean.
"They have a new app coming out, it's called OFTV and it's a 'clean' version of OnlyFans basically but it's running alongside OnlyFans, it won't eradicate OnlyFans. It's just because 18+ content can't be on the App Store or Google Play Store.

"It's smart marketing, it creates a buzz and a hype. I know as a creator last night my page was super, super busy, and the site was constantly crashing because of the amount of traffic to it. So that's my guess."
The Drogheda native said that even if the ban does come into effect, there are plenty of other sites that adult content creators could use alternatively.
She said: “There's so many other sites! When a statement like that comes out, it causes mass panic and people forget to use logic.
“But there's so many other sites, there's actually sites that have been specifically set up for sex workers that would never have this issue.
“The only reason people don't use them at the moment is because there isn't the same traffic but if OnlyFans was to go, then there would be.
"It's important to remember that the people who would suffer the most would be the smaller creators that rely on making custom content and things like that, so I'd encourage anyone who does have an OnlyFans to set up an account on another site just in case."
After the announcement on Thursday, many people online took to social media to say they were happy that OnlyFans creators might lose income.
Niamh said that those people are simply just jealous of the money that can be made through the site.
She said: “OnlyFans is an extremely stigmatised job," said Niamh. "People who try and deny that it's a job are insane. We pay taxes, we do everything we would in normal employment.
"But a lot of people are making a lot of money. Some people are making people's yearly salary in two weeks.
“With things like that, there's always going to come bitterness. Rightly so sometimes - people should be earning more in their "normal" nine to five jobs, but you're taking that out on the wrong people.
"We can't help that our jobs pay more money. It comes down to the fact that people see it and are bitter."
Niamh has become extremely successful through her online presence and recently purchased a second property.
She moved to Turkey last year and has since purchased an apartment in Kusadasi and has now become the proud owner of a luxury villa.
