Irish mum left devastated after car is stolen and burnt with son's Christmas presents in boot

An Irish mum has been left heartbroken after her car was stolen and burnt with all of her son's Christmas presents in the boot.

Adrianne Cook, from Cathedral Road, Co Cork, was told by gardai on Friday morning that her car had been found burnt out.

It is thought that a group stole her car, before abandoning the vehicle and setting it alight, Cork Beo reports.

Adrianne also said that her purse was in the door of the car and when she asked was it destroyed the fire brigade told her that there was nothing left of her car.

She told the Neil Prendeville show on Red FM: "I work so hard for everything I have.

"My boot was over flowing with my sons Christmas and birthday toys and before anyone asks why I left them in there they were in there because my apartment is so small I had nowhere to hide them they were due to be collected and put into storage."

Adrianne has been told that her insurance will not cover the cost of the toys that were destroyed as she does not have the receipts for them.

She is currently studying for a diploma in UCC to become a Youth Worker to help troubled teens and she says that she no longer feels like helping some teens.

Adrianne also addressed the vandals saying "10 minutes of fun for you but you have absolutely turned my life upside down."
