Irish model Cormac Murphy set to take hit TV show Love Island USA by storm

An Irish model is set to take hit TV show Love Island USA by storm.

Cormac Murphy, 26, from Co Clare, appeared for the first time in the series on US screens on Wednesday night.

While Longford stunner Maura Higgins has been hugely popular on the UK version, now Cormac is hoping to follow in her footsteps.

On the show, Cormac said: “If I went to college I’d have a degree in women, I don’t think they know what’s coming, I’m going to turn some heads, I’m here on Love Island and I’m ready for love.”

He wrote on his Instagram account about going into the show : “The cat is out the bag.

“Our boy has entered the villa.

“Get ready for some of that famous Irish charm.”

The Ennis native and former St Munchins secondary school student is working as a nightclub promoter in New York after emigrating from Ireland over three years ago.

He already has 17,000 followers on Instagram but that is set to skyrocket after becoming the first Irish person to enter the villa of the American show.

Cormac's job in the Big Apple has seen him rub shoulders with the likes of Anthony Joshua and Conor McGregor.

And his business partners and friends Patrick Greene and Jack Legg predict he will be a big hit both on the island and back home in Ennis as Love Island fever continues to grip the nation.

Patrick said: “All his friends are delighted that he’s gone into the Island.

“Working in the nightclub business and promoting will help him a lot because he’s used to dealing with different personalities.

“I think that everyone in the villa & at home will really like him because he’s a real nice lad with a great buzz about him.

“It’ll do wonders for his profile and help our nightlife business.

“We’re hosting about 19 parties a week in NYC’s celeb hotspots so we’ll be extra busy while he’s in the island but we don’t mind.

“Seeing how much interest there has been in Maura, it would be amazing if the Irish people got behind him as much."

Patrick feels that Cormac will look for a girl that has a good personality and that he can have banter with.

Irish fashion designer and Roscommon GAA star Neil Patrick Collins, who knows the model from the Manhattan social scene, reckons he will bring plenty of life to the villa.

He said: “I’ve went on a few nights out with Cormac, he has big energy, I met him through top promoter Paddy Greene.

“We went to a few celeb hotspots and had fun.

“It’s a great achievement for him to be on TV in America and I’d like to see him do well.”

Fans take control in deciding if Cormac goes on a date with Alana, Alexandra, Caro, Kyra, Elizabeth or Mallory. Voting closes on Wednesday night at 9.30pm.
