An Irish Manchester United fan was celebrating on the double after Southampton's win over Liverpool on Monday night.
The Saints ran out 1-0 winners thanks to a first half goal from former Liverpool forward Danny Ings.
And the victory led to huge celebrations for one Carlow punter, who placed a €10 bet on Ings scoring first and Southampton winning 1-0 at odds of 110/1.
He was €1,100 richer after the game, with the result meaning United can replace Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table by drawing with or beating Burnley next Tuesday.
The lucky punter posted online after the game: "Liverpool drop 3 points and I win €1,110."
Meanwhile, Gary Lineker has told Manchester United they should take Jurgen Klopp's recent penalty outburst as a "massive compliment".
Speaking afterMonday's game, Klopp pointed out his side had been awarded fewer penalties (30) since the mid-2015 than United have had (32) in the last two-and-a-half seasons.
His thinly-veiled dig at the Red Devils came after Liverpool saw penalty shouts for a potential foul on Sadio Mane and handball by Jack Stephens waved away at St Mary's.
“I hear now that Manchester United had more penalties in two years than I had in five-and-a-half years," said Klopp in his post-match interview.
“I’ve no idea if that’s my fault, or how that can happen. But it’s no excuse for the performance. We cannot change it, we have to respect the decisions.”
In response to Klopp's comments, Lineker took to Twitter to write: "Bullets fired. If I was a fan of Manchester United I’d take that as a massive compliment."
The former England striker added: "We might just have ourselves a title race."
Tensions are running high between Liverpool and Manchester United - currently first and second in the Premier League - ahead of their vital showdown at Anfield next Sunday.
A 1-0 defeat on the south coast hands United the initiative in the title race, as they are level on points with the Reds and have a game in hand on their rivals.
In his full post-match debrief, Klopp admitted he was flabbergasted at the decision not to award a penalty for Kyle Walker-Peters' challenge on Mane.
The Liverpool boss said: "I turned around, we had a really good view of it. It looked like a clear penalty.
"I turned to the fourth official, he said ‘we checked already, no penalty’. That’s the 100 per cent truth. They checked it already."
