Irish man linked to Kinahan cartel found dead in Spain

Gardai are investigating reports that an Irish man linked to the Kinahan cartel has been found dead in Spain.

The man is understood to be a major player in the Kinahan gang and is suspected of being involved in the murders of several rival gangsters.

Detectives believe he sourced the getaway cars used in the murders of Darren Kearns on Blackhorse Avenue in 2015 and Eddie Hutch Snr, brother of gang leader Gerry Hutch, in 2016.

He was questioned by gardai about the murder of Eddie Hutch but was released without charge and is believed to have then fled to Spain.

The discovery of his body on Sunday is being investigated by Spanish police, the Guardia Civil.

A spokeswoman for the Department of Foreign Affairs told Dublin Live they had not been contacted in relation to the discovery of the man's body but said they were ready to provide consular assistance if required.

Dublin Live has contacted the Guardia Civil for comment.
