PHUKET - The body of a 28-year-old Irish man was found on Friday floating in the lake of a residential project.
Choeng Thale police in Thalang district said they were alerted to the body at 11am and arrived at the scene with medics, forensics specialists and rescue volunteers.
Officers said they were collecting evidence and questioning witnesses before determining the cause of the death.
The body was later autopsied at an area hospital. The Irish embassy was informed and requested to notify the individual's family.
While Choeng Thale police have released the name of the victim, the Bangkok Post has resolved to withhold the information until the family has been informed.
The name of the residential estate and the hospital have not been made public. It is unclear whether the victim was an expat or a tourist.
Phuket has several quarry lakes which once were tin mines.
