Irish man, 54, killed by falling tree in Westmeath work tragedy

A 54-year-old man has died after a tree fell on him in Co Westmeath.

The man was struck by the falling tree near Mullingar on Wednesday as he worked on an estate.

The man was felling trees as part of a team at Dunboden Estate in the Gaybrook area just outside Mullingar when the incident occurred, according to the Westmeath Independent.

The tragedy happened at around noon on the day and ambulance crews used to the scene after the alarm was raised, they were unable to saved him.

Fire services and gardaí also attended the scene. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The HSA was notified of the incident.
