Irish Love Island host Laura Whitmore opens up about heartbreaking miscarriage

Brave Irish star Laura Whitmore has opened up on suffering a heartbreaking miscarriage.

The Love Island host, 35, spoke for the first time last year about the awful loss she suffered in 2018.

And the ITV presenter has now told comedian Katherine Ryan on her 'Castaway' podcast that she was so stunned she wasn't sure how to react when she was given the news.

She said: “I’ve never told you this, but I remember in my situation about two years ago when we went for our scan, it was supposed to be our first proper scan, and it was that night I was going to see your show.

“We had gone to go for the scan and there was no heartbeat.

“Was I supposed to be upset? Was I supposed to be 'okay okay' and move on?”

Laura revealed that she went on to attend host Katherine's stand-up show that evening, saying "a little bit of escapism" was important after the devastating news.

She added: "I remember Iain [Stirling] saying to me, 'should we just go home?,' and I said, 'I can’t'.

"I want to have a little bit of escapism for an hour and I want to laugh and I want to watch a show and then I'll deal with it.

"For me, that was so important to see your show."
