The National Lottery has dished out over €21 million in prizes to lucky players since the new rules that came in in October.
The record-breaking Lotto jackpot of over €19 million has been rolling over for months and is back up for grabs on Wednesday evening.
The benefit of the mega winnings not being snapped up just yet is that players continue to have an even better chance at landing up to €1 million in cash prizes.
In the month of October, a total of €10,270,452 was won by lucky players benefitting from the rules, followed by another €10,736,558 in November.
New regulations for the game were brought in two months ago, and mean you can match fewer numbers and still win huge cash prizes.
As the jackpot is capped at just over €19 million, this means that no additional money can be added until it is won.
The funds that would normally go to the jackpot instead will be distributed to the next prize tier at which there are winners.
For example, if there is a winner or winners at the Match 5 + Bonus tier, the additional funds will be allocated to this tier.
If there is no winner at the Match 5 + Bonus tier, the additional funds will then be allocated to the next tier at which there is a winner or winners which would be the Match 5 tier.
Tonight, the €19.06 million jackpot will be back up for the taking, with players being urged to purchase their tickets ahead of the 7:45 pm cut off time, with the draw following at 8:00 pm.
