Irish League clubs asked for 'observations' after licensing issues are raised

A number of Irish League clubs have been asked for their "observations" after issues were raised by the Irish FA's licensing committee.

Successful clubs were awarded their licenses last week ahead of the 2020/21 Premiership and Championship seasons.

UEFA licenses for clubs playing in Europe were also confirmed.

However, the BBC reported on Saturday that the IFA's licensing committee had raised questions in relation to two clubs - one from the Premiership and another from the Championship.

The NI Football League has refused to reveal how many clubs are involved in the process, but confirmed that a number would be contacted.

"The Northern Ireland Football League can confirm that following correspondence from the Irish FA licensing committee last week, we will be in communication with clubs for their observations," read a NIFL statement.

The governing body says it will not be making any further comment on the issue.
