Irish Hip Hop Against Homelessness gig curated by Dublin rapper Nealo added to St Patrick’s Festival

The jam-packed St Patrick’s Festival has added the upcoming Irish Hip Hop Against Homelessness gig, curated by Dublin rapper Nealo, to its programme.

The showcase gig features sets from Nealo as well as artists such as the Choice Prize-nominated Jafaris, JyellowL (on tour with huge 90s hip hop star Nelly), Erica Cody and Celaviedmai - the Galway rapper who is becoming one of the most recognised names in Irish music.

The gig takes place on the eve of Paddy’s Day - March 16 - at Dublin’s  Sugar Club, with all proceeds going to Inner City Helping Homeless (ICHH).

Nealo, who has just returned from performing at Other Voices, said yesterday: “Putting on this gig is a reaction to the unacceptable amount of homeless people in Ireland.

“The number of people accessing emergency accommodation increased in January.

“It’s horrible to walk past people on the street and feel powerless to help them - and it’s getting worse. I just wanted to do something to help and I feel like everyone else involved did too.

“That’s why it was so easy to put the artists together for it - every single person that I asked said yes.”

The lineup is: Jafaris, Why Axis , JYellowL, Erica Cody, Nealo, Dubzeno, Rebel Phoenix, Celaviedmai, Malaki, Aaron J , Shiv, Nonzus Magnus, Fynch, Jehnova, Local Boy, C.O.B., Sick Nanley plus more.

Tickets are €15 excluding booking fee available from The Sugar Club.
