An Irish gig-goer told of going to an event over the weekend where they had to leave because they were “so freaked out” by their experience.
Many have been hitting back at the anonymous post on social media, saying they should have expected a live music event to be busy, and are insisting that they should "stay at home."
Explaining why they had an issue with the unnamed venue, they wrote: "So I went to a gig last night.
"Town was HEAVING. The crowd outside the venue was mental.
"The security lad that stopped me for the Covid Cert outside had no mask, but I figured he’s outside, the girl at the door to scan my ticket had one on, the girl next up on the stairs to give me my band had a mask under her chin and then, that was that.
"Security didn’t even have them under their chin, the place was full as I’ve seen it and only the “odd” person in the crowd had a mask.
"There was no sign of sanitiser anywhere and bar a sign on the door saying masks must be worn, that was all you would have known of Coronavirus.
"I was so freaked out by it all, I had to bail after three songs."
Many people have been replying to the post with similar experiences in their own counties, but some sternly disagree with slamming the venue - as the hospitality industry tries to recover after almost 18 months of closures.
One person responded saying; "At least you exercised your right to judge for yourself and act accordingly. But regardless of whether you agree with it or not.. most places are like this."
Another wrote: "You have to accept that nightclubs and music venues are inevitably going to be risky places to go to at the moment, and if you’re going you need to accept the possibility of getting sick."
A third said: "If you don’t like it then stay home. This is the reality now that people are fed up and not necessarily following every restriction at every moment."
