Irish football stars Stephen Ward and Nathan Collins taking part in 'Heads Up' charity challenge

Irish football stars Stephen Ward and Nathan Collins are urging fans to get involved in a new Heads Up charity challenge.

The Stoke City duo have teamed up with snooker legend Ken Doherty as well as TV star Simon Delaney to take part in the Variety initiative.

Fans are being asked to record themselves attempting to do five or more consecutive headers and donate and nominate friends to help the charity.

Variety, the Children's Charity of Ireland will celebrate their 70th anniversary next year, and currently focus on providing vital mobility and educational equipment.

Celeb Simon Delaney, Patron of Variety – the Children’s Charity of Ireland said: “The great thing about our ‘HeadsUp’ challenge is you can go do this in your own back garden then challenge family or friends to try and do as many headers as possible while donating to help children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs in Ireland.”

“HeadsUp is not only about having fun through football while donating to Variety. It also offers a subliminal message for the people of Ireland to ‘Get their heads up’ during these extraordinary times as we seek to find our way through this COVID crisis.”

You can text the word ‘Headsup’ to 50300 to donate €4 or go to Variety Ireland’s website or social media pages to make an online donation.

Use the hashtag '#HEADSUPVARIETY' and tag Variety Ireland on its social media pages.
