Irish Football club left devastated after equipment burned in arson attack

A Drogheda football club were left devastated after their equipment was destroyed in an alleged arson attack.

Abbey Celtic took to social media to break the sad news.

And the Louth club have been in contact with Gardai over the incident.

Taking to social media, the club said: "Hi all unfortunately we got a call this evening from the local Gardai to tell us that our container was set on fire.

"We went down and its ruined along with our nets balls marker and training equipment. To some it might not be a big deal but to use its everything.

"Especially after setting the team back up to compete in the 2023 season. We will go back down in the morning and have another look but we would love to know why?

"What fun can you get from it? Thanks to the local garda and drogheda fire service for putting the fire out. We hope"

And followers of the page were left in shock.

One person said: "No words"

While another said: "Aww lads sorry to hear that just awful"

And another said: "Shocking what is wrong with people"
