Fishermen have recovered a shoe and sock from the sea with what appeared to be 'human remains' inside.
Police say at around 6.30pm on Wednesday, they were contacted by the fishermen after the discovery in Ardglass, Co Down, Belfast Live reports.
A PSNI spokesperson added: "The bones, which do appear to be human remains, were recovered to the forensic mortuary at the RVH."
There are no further details.
