Irish Farmers Association stage protest outside Tesco Distribution Centre in Donabate over beef prices

A group of farmers have been staging a 12-hour protest outside a north Dublin Tesco Distribution Centre since 7am this morning.

The protest at Tesco's main centre in Donabate is the latest in a series of demonstrations carried out by the Irish Farmers Association over beef prices.

Last week, the IFA group staged protests outside the Aldi distribution centre in Naas, Kildare and outside Lidl's centre in Charleville in Cork.

The dispute comes after ABP food group said that they would be increasing the base price paid for cattle but the IFA are not happy with the increase which is said to be only 5 to 10c per kilo.

The group say they will continue to stage protests like the one in Donabate unless a bigger increase is made by ABP.
