Irish family transform back garden into holiday paradise and it didn't cost that much

This is the beautiful back garden pergola of Dublin mum Tina Redmond after she decided to bring a "holiday feeling" to her home with no foreign trips on the horizon

The Rush, Co Dublin family are the latest to feature their lovely pergola on the Irish Mirror - with people countrywide redesigning their back gardens amid lockdown.

Tina, 40, her husband Andrew and two girls Erin, 18, and Ciara, 16 are hoping that once restrictions lift they'll be able to make the best of the setup with BBQs and family gatherings.

Tina told Irish Mirror: "We didn't have a holiday last year and it's looking like we can't go on holidays again this year so we decided to invest in something really nice for our back garden to sit out in and enjoy all kinds of weather.

"We decided to go with a Pergola as its like something from holidays so we can bring a holiday feeling to our home and hopefully when restrictions are lifted we can enjoy it with family and friends and have a BBQ . We have missed so many big celebrations like my 40th birthday and my daughter's 18th.We hope this summer we can celebrate with a little bit of style .

"I love anything girly so I want to style it with some voile curtains to give it a soft elegant look.

"I wanted something bespoke and I really felt Martin Redmond(builder) delivered that for us. Martin caters for all budgets, I felt it was worth every penny as its an investment and I wanted good chunky wood with chunky posts.

"All in I'd say we spent about €3000, that includes decorations. Garden furniture not included in that price. Best tip I can give is go with good heavy wood as it ways a half tonne, we didn't need it screwed to the ground, it wouldn't even blow in bad weather."
